Combining nearly 30 years of special steel expertise with intelligentization, Shisteel Company began planning and design in 2018 in tandem with new district construction, commenced full-scale development of the "Five-All" digital and intelligent operation system for the "Dream Factory" of digital special steel at the end of 2019, and launched it synchronously with the main process in October 2020.
Shisteel is equipped with high-end digital and intelligent equipment groups, achieving a digitalization rate of 98.5% for production equipment, a cloud adoption rate of 90.8%, and 100% reliability for basic testing. All production and operation data are automatically collected, with a numerical control rate of 98.3% for key processes, ranking at the industry-leading level.
Shisteel achieves reduced-manning and standardized robotic operations in high-temperature smelting processes, from temperature measurement and sampling to billet marking and final labeling before finished product warehousing. For example, tasks such as bundling removal, grinding, painting, and labeling on the finishing line are performed by 38 robots working in clusters, making it the world's first special steel bar finishing demonstration line with robotic clustering.
Shisteel achieves full-process model-based production from raw scrap steel to rear finishing. Leveraging AI algorithms and machine vision, it automatically identifies non-compliant scrap steel, impurities, and foreign objects during unloading, with real-time early warning, realizing intelligent scrap quality inspection. Intelligent steelmaking model clusters including scrap preheating, power supply, oxygen injection, and automatic tapping enable one-button steelmaking. By integrating intelligent combustion in heating furnaces, automatic rolling, and intelligent finishing, Shisteel has built a complete model-based production system, achieving intelligent manufacturing.
Supported by big data and digital twin technology, cross-process collaboration is formed. Integrating technologies such as machine vision, 5G, and big data analysis, with full-chain design and integrated implementation, an efficient production collaboration system across multiple businesses, organizations, and levels is built. This achieves a high-quality, high-efficiency special steel production control mode with real-time tracking of materials throughout the process, efficient equipment utilization, and online quality control.
The self-developed "ShiZhi" special steel vertical large model empowers steel enterprises. By deploying computing power servers on the internal network and building an intelligent platform, it utilizes general large models such as DeepSeek and GPT for fine-tuning. The AI develops capabilities including temperature prediction and composition prediction, forming a multimodal "ShiZhi" large model covering the entire process and supporting both images and text.
Shisteel Intelligent Manufacturing In 2021, it was selected as an intelligent demonstration factory by four ministries including the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Finance, and the State Administration for Market Regulation. In October 2022, it was awarded the first batch of Digital Navigator enterprises by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. In December 2024, after constructing 60 digital scenarios across five major areas—factory construction, R&D design, production operations, production management, and operational management—it was rated as one of the first batch of Excellent Intelligent Factories by six national ministries.
